Description
If you suffer from iron deficiency, you know how unpleasant it can be taking an iron supplement. Most iron supplements may cause constipation, nausea and other side effects.
Proferrin is not your traditional iron supplement. With Proferrin, you can expect more iron and less side effects.
This is possible because Proferrin is an all natural iron supplement containing only heme iron polypeptide. Heme iron is readily absorbed through specific receptors in the small intestine better than any other form of iron. Heme iron is the same type of iron you absorb when you eat meat such as beef or chicken.
Try Proferrin today and start experiencing a new generation of iron supplement!
What is Proferrin?
Proferrin is an oral iron supplement made from heme iron polypeptide
Proferrin is iron derived from bovine hemoglobin so its easily absorbed

Symptoms of Iron Deficiency:
Without enough iron, you may:
¦constantly feel tired
¦feel weak
¦have pale skin
¦experience chest pain
¦feel dizzy
¦be irritable
¦have numbness or coldness in your hands and feet
¦experience regular headaches
Why do I need Iron?
Iron is found in every living cell in your body and it is essential to:
¦build red blood cells
¦carry oxygen to all living cells in your body
¦help the brain work at its best
From before birth throughout our entire life, we need iron to develop and maintain our health. Infants need iron for brain development and growth. Teenage girls need much more iron than boys because they lose iron during menstruation. In addition, adult women need more than twice as much iron as adult men.
Heme Iron Polypeptide vs Non-Heme
There are two kinds of iron in foods:
Heme iron is very easily absorbed by the body.
Heme iron food sources:
¦beef
¦pork
¦fish and seafood
¦veal
¦chicken
Non-heme iron is not absorbed as well as heme iron.
Non-heme iron food sources:
¦whole grain breads and pastas
¦fortified cereals
¦nuts and seeds
¦lentils
¦green, leafy veggies
Iron Absorption
Each person absorbs iron differently so even if you have a healthy diet you may still not be getting enough iron. Some people will need to take iron supplements, but iron supplements are not recommended for everyone. You should consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking an iron supplement.
Like food sources, iron supplements come in different forms:
Heme iron supplements are absorbed very easily by the body, with very few side effects. Some studies suggest oral heme is absorbed just as well as intravenous iron. Proferrin is an example of a heme iron polypeptide.
Non-heme iron supplements – commonly known as “iron salts”– are much more common to find, but are not absorbed as easily, and may have many side effects (such as constipation, nausea, cramping and even diarrhea). Common non-heme iron supplements are: ferrous fumarate, ferrous sulphate, and ferrous gluconate.
Intravenous iron (IV iron)- prescribed by your doctor if you cannot tolerate oral iron and your iron levels are extremely low. IV iron is injected into your bloodstream, and although very effective, requires time, a medical professional, and is much more costly than oral iron supplements.

Suggested Use
Adults may take 1-3 tablets a day in a divided dose. Heme iron absorption is not affected by foods such as: phytates (bran or wheat), polyphenols (compounds in tea or coffee), calcium or by achlorhydria (low stomach acid) that would otherwise reduce the absorption of other oral irons. Proferrin® can be taken at any time of the day, with or without food. Individuals that are pregnant, breast feeding or have hemochromatosis, other types of anemia, repeated blood transfusions, or stomach and intestinal problems should tell their health care professional before using this product.
